VELUX FONDEN has granted a total of DKK 10 million (EUR 1.34 million) for projects with special focus on the challenges that have been caused by the war in Ukraine.

The money will be granted through the grant areas of Active senior citizens and Culture & society, and provides an opportunity to support two different causes:

The first is to safeguard and preserve Ukraine's cultural heritage. The grant will be used partly to secure physical objects through packing, moving and conservation, and partly to digitise and document the cultural heritage. A grant of DKK 5 million will be given to the organisation Blue Shield Denmark, who will be operationally responsible for the project in close collaboration with ICOM Denmark (International Council of Museums), the Danish UNESCO National Commission and Museumstjenesten.

The second is to help older Ukrainian refugees who have reached retirement age and thus do not have the opportunity to be integrated through employment. The grant of DKK 5 million will be given to involve volunteers and active senior citizens in Denmark, and the funds will be managed by the Red Cross and the Danish Refugee Council through partnerships.
