Shared Stories. Literary communities in libraries as a way to increase well-being and agency for vulnerable children

Shared stories places vulnerable children aged 10-12 at the center of an investigation into how communities around stories in libraries can strengthen their well-being, agency and opportunities for participation. The project provides basic research into vulnerable children's own perceptions of their reading culture, and about how teachers and librarians can collaborate and develop skills with a particular aim of supporting the reading communities of vulnerable children. Through co-creation, research circles, interviews, observations and children's own texts, researchers, practitioners and children develop concepts, new methods, models and materials that can be used nationally in schools and libraries. Shared stories thus contribute to preventing vulnerability and strengthening the participation and courage of vulnerable children. Partners in the project are Aarhus University, VIA University College and Aarhus Public Libraries.
