Nørre Gymnasium as Democratic Infrastructure in a Vibrant and Experimental Local Community
Project description
What new forms of democratic participation become possible when we dare to experiment with the very infrastructure through which people meet, explore, and act together? With Nørre Gymnasium as the initiating partner, the school, Brønshøj-Husum Local Committee, and Louisiana seek, through an equal partnership, to explore and develop a model for how art, culture, and nature can provide a shared starting point for local rootedness, perspectives on nature, new encounters, and democratic participation. The project is based on an understanding of democratic sustainability as more than formal democratic structures: it is about creating and sustaining communities, relationships, and opportunities for participation that enable people to become active co-creators of their local area. Art and nature become a shared language and meeting place, bringing together generations, experiences, disciplines, and perspectives, and opening new understandings of place, nature, and community.
