Local Power - The Municipality as a Guide for new Energy Communities

Local Power will develop and test a new municipal role in supporting energy communities. In Frederikssund Municipality, the project will explore how municipalities can mobilise citizens, facilitate early-stage local initiatives, and help clarify organisational, technical, legal and financial options. The work builds on an emerging energy community in Sundbylille and will expand to other local areas. Lessons will be turned into a practical municipal toolkit, tested and refined in practice. The project’s experiences will be shared with other municipalities through existing networks in the joint projects Fra Modstander til Medejer and CommUnity Power, as well as through the networks of Energifællesskaber Danmark. The project is carried out by Frederikssund Municipality, Tænketanken Demokratisk Erhverv and Energifællesskaber Danmark.
