Citizen-sensitive and holistic healthcare: A model for healthcare services tailored to citizens in socially vulnerable situations
Project description
Citizens in socially vulnerable situations frequently face stigma and discrimination within the Danish healthcare system, often resulting in fragmented and inadequate treatments. Based on the initiatives at Flexklinikken at Copenhagen University Hospital Bispebjerg, Denmark, this project aims to improve the encounters between healthcare services and socially vulnerable populations, ensuring consistent and comprehensive care for those with complex health, medication, and social challenges. Drawing on qualitative, epidemiological and social pharmaceutical methodologies, the project examines medical adherence, shame practices, and standardization processes to identify citizen-sensitive insights. These insights will guide the development of a new organizational framework and practical tools to facilitate more integrated and tailored healthcare services.
