A pilot project will award work grants to talented fiction writers in residence at humanities departments at universities: VELUX FONDEN launches the Writer-in-residence programme.
VELUX FONDEN has allocated DKK 3 million to its Writer-in-residence programme in 2021. Under the pilot programme, two-year work grants of DKK 200,000 annually are awarded to selected authors. The universities’ expenses for writer’s offices, administration, etc. are also covered.
“The programme has been born of a desire to experiment with the promotion of a dialogue between artistic practice and human sciences. The objective is to help strengthen Danish fiction by giving talented authors the opportunity to concentrate on their literary work and by creating room for mutual inspiration between authors, researchers and students,” says Henrik Tronier, Head of programme for VELUX FONDEN’s humanities research area.
Departments invite authorsThe programme has been created in cooperation with authors and research environments. VELUX FONDEN has invited six department of humanities to submit two applications each, and applications under the programme can only be submitted by invitation via one of the heads of department.
