Vision-related fatigue and transitions in adult life – Pathways to improved social participation

BACKGROUND: Vision-related fatigue and its negative impact on daily life is a well-documented problem among adults with visual impairment. Current assessment methods of fatigue do not consider vision specific causes, leaving practitioners without evidence-based methods. Therefore, vision-related fatigue risks being underestimated, misunderstood or overlooked. AIM: This project explores vision-related fatigue and its association with demands of daily life among adults 50+. This knowledge is used to develop an evidence-based assessment method for vision-related fatigue. METHODS: A mixed-methods data collection will generate knowledge about vision-related fatigue and provide foundation for a new assessment method, developed in close collaboration with practitioners and the target population. EXPECTED OUTCOMES: An evidence-based assessment method for vision-related fatigue, ensuring identification and relevant support for adults with visual impairment.
