Local Green Capacity Building - LocGreen
Project description
The project “Local Green Capacity Building” is a partnership between Aalborg University and The Danish Society for Nature Conservation, The Danish Sport Fishing Federation, The Danish Hunters’ Federation and Bird Life Denmark (DOF). The project examines how nature organizations can develop cross-sector collaboration and build capacity to influence the implementation of the Green Tripartite Agreement. This agreement entails a historic land-use transformation, converting approximately 10% of Denmark’s land into nature and forest areas by 2045, with 23 intermunicipal tripartite partnerships ensuring local ownership and engagement. Nature organizations play a key role in this process but face new challenges related to coordination, balancing interests, and gaining political influence. The project combines research and practice to enhance organizational collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic capacity building. Through a comparative case study and research-driven workshops, the project develops concrete tools to strengthen the role of nature organizations in the tripartite agreement. At the same time, research contributes new insights into how voluntary organizations can influence decision-making processes in cross-sectoral environmental governance partnerships.
