’JURiB – Legal Competencies in Sustainability’ supports a joint capacity building and development of legal competencies in sustainability across all Danish legal education and research environments. JURiB is the first cross-cutting initiative that fundamentally integrates research and education with a common ambition to contribute to the development of a more sustainable society.
JURiB has a broad approach to the concept of sustainability, which includes both environmental and climate aspects, but also social sustainability and sustainable management practices. The breadth of the concept entails resource challenges for both states, public institutions, and private actors, and not least challenges related to the legal concretization, which is crucial for all actors.
JURiB is launched with three specific collaborative projects across the six participating institutions – KU, SDU, AAU, AU, RUC, and CBS. All three projects encompass both education and research. They examine the legal implications of the sustainability agenda from a business perspective (contractual and liability implications), a public law perspective (public administrative activities), and an international perspective (sustainability and green trade barriers across borders). Significant synergies are expected between the first three projects.
Based on continuous experience gathering and knowledge sharing across the first three projects, additional projects will be initiated.
