Decision Support Tools for Spatial Planning and Cumulative Effects Assessment of Offshore Wind in the Greater North Sea

The rapid expansion of offshore wind farms and other human activities in the ocean has created an urgent need to better understand, quantify and articulate the risks and benefits to ocean health and socio-ecological resilience of the increased expansion

The project led by Dr. Hugo Putuhena from University of Southampton will take a holistic approach in order to understand the cumulative effects of human activities at sea, including offshore wind farms, by integrating existing interdisciplinary data with geospatial technologies and artificial intelligence.

The goal is to develop knowledge-based decision support tools to aid marine spatial planning.
